U10/U12

Thursday 5.30-7.30 weekly

Ski race training with an emphasis on learning, physical literacy and lots of skiing

 

Entry Criteria

  1. Carve basic turns from the 1st red.
  2. Ski any simple course after an inspection with a coach

This will be continually assessed during the LSR Intro sessions

 

Learning Outcomes

  1. Carve turns in defined corridors showing good balance and posture
  2. Develop basic technique though drills & practice and learn the basic inputs
  3. Ski any simple course from the top after an inspection with a coach
  4. Experience the skillsquest drills at Level 1-2 Rotary, Pressure, Edging, Balance
  5. Can perform any simple drill having seen a demo & explanation
  6. Encouraged to ski on snow, take part in local competitions, and look after equipment

 

U14/U16

Thursday 7.00-9 weekly

Grouped by age and stage

Ski race training with an emphasis on training, physical literacy and lots of skiing

 

Entry Criteria

  1. Carve turns in defined corridors showing good balance and posture
  2. Good progress with skillsquest drills

This will be continually assessed during the LSR Intro/U12 sessions.

 

Learning Outcomes

  1. Carve turns in defined corridors on steeper terrain showing good balance and posture
  2. Refine their technique as they grow and developing the inputs
  3. Ski any course from the top after an inspection on their own
  4. Experience the skillsquest drills at Level 2-3 Rotary, Pressure, Edging, Balance
  5. Select a drill to improve their own skiing, gaining more responsibility for their own development
  6. Encouraged to ski in competitions, train regularly, keep fit and service their own equipment

 

U18/U21

Monday 7:30-9pm weekly

Grouped by age and stage

Ski race training with an emphasis on training, personal development and responsibility

 

Entry Criteria

  1. Carve turns
  2. Show a personal commitment to ski racing

This will be continually assessed during the LSR U16 sessions.

 

Learning Outcomes

  1. Carve turns in a variety of corridors on steeper terrain
  2. Have an understanding of technique vs style
  3. Can ski any course from the top after an inspection on their own
  4. Experience the skillsquest drills at Level 3-4 Rotary, Pressure, Edging, Balance
  5. Can explain what drill can be used to correct a fault

Encouraged to compete regularly, be fit for ski racing, be up to date with changes in regulations and participate in a coaching or instructor course
